During the segment, Morgan Freeman gave a heartfelt shout-out to Gene Hackman, who had recently suffered the tragic loss of his wife in their New Mexico residence.

According to a bystander who spoke to the Daily Mail, she faced difficulty when attempting to descend the stairs while out at a New York restaurant.
The previous year, the Ice Princess actress responded to naysayers who claimed she appeared “unwell.”
“Tell me, why do you think I look unwell?” the actress retorted.
“Seems like you may have lost a calendar, as I am certainly not 14. It’s unfortunate that you felt the need to make such a comment.”

During his speech for the “In Memoriam” segment, Freeman reflected on collaborating with Hackman on two projects – Unforgiven and Under Suspicion.
According to him, just like others who had worked with him, he was known for being a selfless actor and someone who raised the bar for everyone’s work.

It was noted that Hackman achieved two Oscars during his tenure in showbiz.
Last week, the symbol of fame and his spouse Betsy Arakawa, along with their canine companion, were discovered deceased in separate areas of their Santa Fe residence.
On March 28, 2024, the couple was spotted together in public for the last time. They were leaving the Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen restaurant in Santa Fe.
